About 1/4", or about the length of a grain of rice. The hair needs to be long enough for the sugar to grip and melt onto because the length under the skin is deeply rooted in the follicle. Usually 2 weeks is enough time to wait after shaving.
It hurts different! Wax is a synthetic and everything it touches sticks to it...even skin! It is applied with hair growth and removed backwards, and often the deep rooted, difficult hair breaks off just under the skin causing irritation and burning.
Sugar doesnt cause breakage or skin irritation, so the only discomfort is the actual REMOVAL of the hair and follicle lining. Ive been told it hurts LESS, but the 1st time is more intense...after that your hair is thinner and less dense so the discomfort is MUCH less with regular maintenance
Yes, as long as you wear a clean tampon or fresh cup for maintenance appointments. It is typically a little more sensitive, and the 1st time is always the worst, so i dont recommend it if you've never been Sugared/Waxed before.
